Warcraft Teases Viral Sensation "Jimothy" Coming to Azeroth
Warcraft Teases Viral Sensation "Jimothy" Coming to AzerothThe Warcraft social media account has teased that Jimothy is coming to Azeroth.

Late on Thursday night, the Warcraft social media account teased that Jimothy is coming to Azeroth.

What is Jimothy? Jimothy is a nickname of a Seattle raccoon that has reached viral status after being noticed by locals as having a defomity. As mentioned in an Reddit Post on /r/OutOfTheLoop, winsluc12 mentions:

Answer: Jimothy is a Raccoon from Seattle with a spinal deformity that was dubbed... Jimothy... Because, and I quote, "He looked like a Jimothy".

He went Viral because he's a weird-looking little goblin-creature that's still cute.

Here's some footage of Jimothy in person. For comparison.

It's really that simple, I think.

Patch 12.1 PTR Now a Release Candidate - Patch Soon
Patch 12.1 PTR Now a Release Candidate - Patch SoonAnother Patch 12.1 PTR build has been pushed, and this one is a release candidate meaning that the release date is likely soon!

Patch 12.1 Overview

While there has not been an official release date of Patch 12.1, many players have been speculating that August 11th is the release date of the Patch, and August 18th for Season 2 due to many reasons. As a release candidate build, this is likely one of the last full PTR builds, though though there are often still pre and post-release hotfixes which continue to make adjustments as needed. According to Ion Hazzikostas, most of the major changes should be done at this point to avoid last minute changes to break other things.

Release candidates usually appear on the PTR around 2-3 weeks before the official release date. For example, the release candidate for Patch 12.0.7 occurred on May 27th, and the official release date was on June 16th.

Dark Ranger

Fixed an issue where Through The Eyes was not properly increasing Withering Fire’s damage.

Fixed an issue where casting Aimed Shot twice in a row while talented into Aspect of the Hydra incorrectly prevented the second cast of Aimed Shot from being able to cause a Deathbringer proc from the Deathblow talent.

Fixed an issue where secondary Aimed Shots from the Aspect of the Hydra talent would incorrectly consume the Deathbringer buff from the Deathblow talent.

Fixed an issue where Explosive Shot was incorrectly damaging the primary target of Explosive Shot with the explosion damage.

Dark Ranger

Fixed an issue where Through The Eyes was not properly increasing Withering Fire’s damage.

Fixed an issue where Mastery: Spirit Bond incorrectly affected some summons from the Pack Leader Hero Talents twice.

MONK

Brewmaster

Fixed an issue where Flurry Strikes’ Physical damage was not being correctly increased by Bring Me Another or the Venomous Abyss 4-set bonus.

Mistweaver

Developers’ notes: Morning Breeze’s value is being adjusted down in accordance with the Mastery: Gust of Mist increases in Curse of Ula’tek. This should leave the talent’s effectiveness at a similar overall level.

Morning Breeze effectiveness reduced by 60%.

PALADIN

Holy

Developers’ notes: We are happy with the rotational impact of the Venomous Abyss class set for Holy Paladin, but it has also caused the specialization to be more mana efficient than intended. We are adding an effect that increases the mana cost of Holy Light to the set bonus and also increasing Holy Paladin’s overall output alongside this adjustment to compensate for this change. We will keep a watchful eye on where gameplay lands from here and make further adjustments if necessary. Thank you for your ongoing feedback!

The Venomous Abyss 4-set bonus – Now additionally increases Holy Light’s mana cost by 60%.

All healing increased by 5%.

PRIEST

Discipline

Apex Talent: Master the Darkness – Void Shield absorption increased by 3%.

PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER

Developers’ notes: We would like to speed up gearing for players who are participating late in the PvP season, so we are increasing Conquest gains from Spoils of War. This will activate partway through the season, once Conquest has become uncapped.

Spoils of War now grants 50% increased Conquest gain (was 30%).

Hardcore Characters Lost to DDoS Attack on July 21st Have Been Restored
Hardcore Characters Lost to DDoS Attack on July 21st Have Been RestoredEarlier this week, Blizzard was impacted by a DDoS attack, which resulted in the loss of several player characters on hardcore servers. Since these deaths were related to Blizzard server issues, characters lost on July 21st have now been restored.

On July 21, three Classic Hardcore realms in North America were impacted by a malicious DDoS attack, resulting in the deaths of some player-characters.

Today, we’ve restored the dead player-characters who were lost during the DDoS timeframe and remained on their Hardcore realm.

Restorations are now complete. Players who fit the above criteria should be able to log back into their character on the Hardcore realm.

Thank you!

New Age Verification Required for Some Battle.net Accounts in UK
New Age Verification Required for Some Battle.net Accounts in UKA new Battle.net Support article indicates that some Battle.net accounts will need to verify their age due to the UK Online Safety Act, in order to prevent restrictions to certain social features.

This support article seems to note that unverified accounts will be more heavily restricted with any social features such as voice chat, and text chat. Blizzard indicates that there are three ways to verify: Credit Card check, Mobile Provider, and a Goverment-issued ID verification.

To comply with the UK Online Safety Act, age verification may be required for some Battle.net Accounts. Unverified accounts will have limited access to features such as voice chat, text chat, and any other social interactions with people other than friends until verification is completed.

How to verify:Not all Battle.net Accounts are required to complete age verification. If you are in a region where your account does require age verification, follow these steps:

Sign in to Battle.net Account Settings

Look for the Age Verification banner - If you need to verify your age, you’ll see a banner explaining that age verification is needed to unlock certain Battle.net features.

Start the verification process - Select Verify now in the banner to begin age verification. You’ll be redirected to the age verification service.

Select a verification method - You can select one of the available verification options, which may include:

Government‑issued ID verification

Credit card check

Mobile provider verification

Complete verification - Follow the on‑screen instructions for your chosen method and complete the verification process.

Age verified - After completing the process, any age‑restricted Battle.net features will be unlocked automatically.

TroubleshootingIf you run into problems during the age verification process, try the following:

There are several age verification methods available. If one doesn't work, try another.

Use clear, well-lit images of your documents.

If you're playing on console and continue to see restrictions after verifying your age, please make sure you've completed age verification both through your console platform and your Battle.net account.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)What is age verificiation?Age verification is a process for confirming a user’s age that helps ensure we can continue to provide players on our platform with age-appropriate experiences and keep the community safe.

If you have an existing account or you’re creating a new one, you may be asked to verify your age using Yoti, a trusted and secure third-party identity verification service. This is a one-time process and will not need to be repeated after you’ve verified.

Why am I being asked to verify my age?To comply with the UK Online Safety Act and maintain our ongoing investments in tools and technologies that help ensure age-appropriate experiences, we require players in the UK who have indicated they are above 18 to verify their age on their Battle.net Account Settings page. This makes sure we provide appropriate access to social features on Battle.net based on your age and helps keep you and our communities safe.

What verification methods are available? You can choose from several secure options:

ID Verification - Upload a photo of your government-issued ID. The image is encrypted and deleted after verification. Acceptable forms of ID include a passport, driver's license, or national ID card.

Mobile Provider - Use your mobile number to verify your age through your carrier. The submitted information is not stored or shared beyond the initial check.

Credit Card Check - Enter your card details to confirm your age. There will be a temporary holding charge of £0.30p (or an equivalent in default credit card currency). The submitted information is not stored or shared beyond the initial check.

What happens if I don't verify my age?If you don’t verify your age, some Battle.net features, such as social interactions and access to age‑restricted content, may be limited until you verify where required by law.

Blizzard Confirms GM Tools Used to Cheat in Recent Mythic+ Dungeon - Employee Fired
Blizzard Confirms GM Tools Used to Cheat in Recent Mythic+ Dungeon - Employee FiredBlizzard has confirmed that the recent accusation of an employee helping players in a Mythic+ run. The employee has been fired and they are taking action against the complicit players.

Recently, a Reddit post accused a +23 log of using GM intervention to cheat in the key. Blizzard has now confirmed that this accusation is true, and that they have now terminated the employee, and will be taking action against the complicit players.

Blizzard notes that every action of developer tools and spells on live servers is logged to make sure that using them is warranted, and using them for anything against development work is against company policy. They are confident that this incident was isolated to one individual.

As we mentioned, we internally monitored and confirmed a recent incident in which a World of Warcraft group gained an unfair advantage by abuse of access to development-only spells on a live realm. Our tools confirmed what was also surfaced in community discussions, and we have investigated the incident carefully. We can confirm that this was the action of a single Blizzard employee, in violation of our Code of Conduct. This employee is no longer with the company effective immediately. We are also taking action against the player accounts that were complicit in this violation.

It has always been the case that a small number of Blizzard employees can use developer tools and spells on live servers: this lets us test and make urgent fixes to the live game when they’re needed. Every use of these internal spells and commands on live realms is logged and shared with our Platform Security team to help ensure that the occasional use of this access is warranted. The use of development tools for anything other than development work is against company policy. It’s because of the process we have in place around use of these tools that we’re confident this incident was isolated to one individual.

We want to thank those of you in the WoW community who reached out with information and real concern for the integrity of the game, as well as the community sites that are also working to remove the results of this violation from their records. When your findings line up with ours, it helps confirm that our own tools are catching what they should, and we’re grateful for the way we work alongside you all to protect the game and each other.

Tidebound Grotto Noted to Release on August 18th on the 12.1 PTR
Tidebound Grotto Noted to Release on August 18th on the 12.1 PTROn the PTR, the single boss raid lair called Tidebound Grotto, is scheduled to release on August 18th, further increasing speculation that Patch 12.1 releases on August 11th.

The release date has not been confirmed by Blizzard, but there are many sources that seem to be pointing towards August 11th for the Patch.

Previous Release Date Speculation

With Patch 12.1 and Season 2 on the horizon, players have been patiently awaiting Blizzard to announce the official release date. There have been some notable speculation of the release date in the past which includes:

Turbulent Timeways ending on August 11th

The 8th week after Patch 12.0.7 released ending on August 11th

A post on Method's Linkedin that indicates the Patch or the Season will release on August 11th before being edited.

Turbulent Timeways is one of the most accurate trackers of when the Patch would be and everything right now seems to be pointing at August 11th, if not shortly around August 11th. If that wasn't enough, another piece of evidence on the PTR seems to have lead to a similar conclusion:

Tidebound Grotto

The Tidebound Grotto raid lair, with the Nymrissa Wavecaller boss, is a single boss raid Lair, similar to Sporefall. This raid, which allows for Flex 15-25 Mythic, is scheduled to release on August 18th, which seems to line up well with the estimated schedule:

Patch 12.1 releasing on August 11th

Season 2 releasing on the August 18th

This is not confirmed by Blizzard at this time.

Place More Pets and Store More Decor in Patch 12.1
Place More Pets and Store More Decor in Patch 12.1With the most recent Patch 12.1 PTR build, players can keep up to 10,0000 decor in storage and place up to 100 pets inside their house!

As expressed by Principal Designer Jesse Kurlancheek, the new storage limit allows players to have more decor ready for use in their collection, which is great for high-effort builders who may decide to create a whole new look on the fly, or players who simply want many multiples in order to save a trip when they decide they want to put in a new lamp.

The storage limit can be seen inside the house editor UI.

Along with this, players can now place more pets in and around their home. Up to 100 can be placed inside, while the exterior limit has been raised to 25, which is still more than double the 10 which was originally announced.

The exterior decor limit is actually 350 at housing Level 7.

While pet beds themselves contribute to the total amount of internal or external decor limits, they appear to be static, so that a level 1 house can accommodate the same number of pets as a level 12. Learn more about adding non-combat pets to player housing and starting your very own free-range Egbert farm in our previous article.

Budget well spent.

Are We Getting a New Draenei Zone Soon? - 12.0.7 Naigtal Story Summary
Are We Getting a New Draenei Zone Soon? - 12.0.7 Naigtal Story SummaryThe story in Naigtal in patch 12.0.7 ended last week, and concluded by teasing upcoming story in a new Draenei zone!

WARNING: Patch 12.0.7 Spoilers in this post!

The Draenei on Naigtal

During our exploits in Naigtal, one of the new mini-zones introduced in patch 12.0.7, we follow the efforts of an ethereal research group called the Hal'hadar. While it initially seems like they are merely scavenging technology from groups like the Army of the Light, the Legion, and the domanaar, further inspection reveals that the ethereals have much grander plans with warframes used by the Lightforged draenei.

After discovering information about device called a 'Soul Lattice', our allies discover that the Hal'hadar are planning to harness the technology that the draenei use in their Vigilants to place their own souls inside of draenei Warframes -- essentially, they want to give nigh-invincible bodies to their fellow ethereals. This technology does not come without its cost, however, as the Soul Lattice must be powered by the energy of other souls in order to work, and the target of their first test run is a draenei crypt found on Naigtal.

Known as Vilaldoun, this crypt was a part of one of the draenei's many settlements during their long exodus from Argus. While the main group of draenei fled the planet in the Genedar when the Legion arrived, the crypt and its interred inhabitants were left behind -- including their mechanical Vigilant bodies.

It is in the chamber containing the Vigilants that we find Artiseer Ahl'syraz, an ethereal researcher attempting to place her Soul Lattice inside one of the Vigilants. While we prevent her from succeeding by wresting the Soul Lattice from her grasp, she is able to survive and teleport all of the remaining Vigilants away to an unknown location.

In addition to the Soul Lattice, we also find a draenei hologem with a very useful piece of information to the Hal'hadar: a map of every planet the draenei had landed the Genedar on since the start of their exodus. With such a map, the ethereals would have a wealth of abandoned tombs to continue their research with... but tombs are not all this map contains.

The Nethersent

In addition to knowledge of abandoned planets, the hologem also contains information about a planet called Nashabor. During Voidstorm questing, we met a group of draenei called the Nethersent who had been captured by the domanaar -- but these draenei were not from Azeroth. They spoke almost no Common, and had never encountered any of the player races beyond fellow draenei. Instead, these draenei hailed from the planet of Nashabor, one of the colonies left behind by Velen and the Genedar.

These draenei were led by Tul'amar, a mage who was able to evade capture and work with the player to free her people from the domanaar and prevent them from finding Nashabor again. Rather than flee back to their world with her people, however, Tul'amar was forced to stay behind to ensure the portal closed without a trace. Handing leadership off to her brother, the lone Tul'amar then joins the void elves in the Howling Ridge to consider her next steps.

Among those next steps was the potential to spitefully inform Velen of their survival, but beyond that, she did not seem particularly keen on joining the draenei on Azeroth long-term. With the information of this quest, however, working with her fellow draenei may be something she is now inclined to do if she wants to save her people from annihilation at the hands of the ethereals.

After giving the hologem to Tul'amar, she is approached by Tala'saan, the leader of the Lightforged expeditions into Naigtal and Val. Rather than propose they bring the golden armadas of the Army of the Light down to save Nashabor, he proposes that Tul'amar meet with Velen to figure out how to reach Nashabor. Tul'amar reluctantly agrees, leaving us on a cliffhanger for what happens next.

Tul'amar, Thrice-Exiled says: Who's there? Show yourself.Commander Tala'saan sheds his Lightveil cloak and steps forward.Commander Tala'saan says: It is good to see you alive and well, Tul'amar.Tul'amar, Thrice-Exiled says: Tala'saan? You're alive. The Ongoing Draenei Storyline

The story in Midnight is far from the first time we have seen draenei focus in recent years. While their major fight against the Legion may have ended in their titular expansion, the draenei decided by the end of that story to make Azeroth their home rather than attempting to resettle the ruins of Argus.

Their story continued during Dragonflight, where Velen met with the krokuul leader Hatuun and a penitent Man'ari eredar named Arzaal. After some consternation, and a reminder from Hatuun of the people he left behind on Argus, Velen made the choice to allow a small number of Man'ari to redeem themselves by fighting against the remaining Legion forces on Argus.

During the draenei heritage, this story was expanded further when Velen's plans to renew the draenei's Tishamaat ceremony was interrupted by an attack from Legion forces on Azuremyst Isle. Aided by both Hatuun and Arzaal, Velen was able to prevent this attack, and invited both leaders and their people to join the draenei in celebrating Tishamaat.

Among the many story threads set up during the Tishamaat, its final cutscene ends with the reveal that the draenei plan to build a new capitol city on Azeroth. The ceremony resulted in the closest thing to unity between the scattered groups of draenei and Broken we have seen, setting the stage for a brighter future for the united eredar.

For many, this may be your first Tishamaat. Our last was long ago. Few among us remember it.But even here, in another space and another time, its meaning remains the same:We must let go of the past... to grasp our future. No longer must we live scattered, lamenting Argus. We will build a city on the ashes of our exile. We will finally be home.

Now, with these story threads surrounding Tul'amar and the draenei on Nashabor, the ongoing story of the draenei seems to be continuing. It not only teases our return to Velen after some time away, but also a promise that we will venture to Nashabor to save Tul'amar's people.

Is Nashabor an Upcoming Zone?

With all of the focus given to the draenei in side content, such a blatant peace of set-up begs the question: are we getting a new draenei zone soon?

In all likelihood, this is not setting up a major patch zone in Midnight on the scale of Undermine or the Coiled Isle. While the Worldsoul Saga has left plenty of room for side stories like the goblin and Amani plotlines to be explored, all signs point to us following Xal'atath's journey towards Azeroth's worldsoul in patch 12.2, which will then lead to our return to Northrend and the saga's finale in The Last Titan.

More likely, this is setting up another sub-patch zone like Naigtal or Val. The format used in patch 12.0.7 has allowed for these smaller-scale stories to be told without disrupting the ongoing main story, and since the story on Nashabor seems similarly unrelated to Xal'atath's grand schemes for the worldsoul, it would be a safe bet to assume that Nashabor will be of a similar scale of content and story as the rest of the ongoing draenei plot since Dragonflight.

...But to indulge in speculation, what if this is setting up a major draenei zone? Not only Nashabor, but using that story thread as an excuse to visit the newly built capitol city of the draenei?

Midnight has been a rather massive homage to The Burning Crusade, with our return to Quel'thalas and Zul'Aman as well as the thematic parallels between Netherstorm and Voidstorm and their ethereal presence. While they have shown up as a part of the Vanguard of the Light, the draenei are scarce in Midnight compared to the blood elves. Perhaps this lingering story thread with the ethereals is the excuse needed to give us a proper draenei zone to match the revamped Eversong Woods?

As an instanced-off zone, Azuremyst Isle would be a relatively easy zone to remake and add to the world map of Kalimdor like how Quel'thalas was to Eastern Kingdoms -- perhaps even easier, considering Azuremyst is an isolated island with no direct connection to other zones. With the love given to Silvermoon in Midnight, the same love given to a new capitol city that replaces the Exodar would likely be welcomed by the playerbase.

Regardless of if the story in Naigtal results in a massive new draenei capitol city, or merely a sub-patch zone, patch 12.0.7 has done a great job in setting up future plot threads for us to explore with the ethereals and draenei. As a whole, the draenei have been given phenomenal story since Dragonflight, and Midnight has utilized its side content to explore them further in a wonderful way. Here's hoping whatever comes next with Nashabor is treated with the same level of love and passion -- regardless of zone size.
